Augmenting Quality and Relevance of Higher Agricultural Education through Enhanced Learning Outcome and Entrepreneurship Development

The webinar on “Solid Waste Management” was organized on the 1st September 2020 by Dr. RenukaSalunke and Dr. VeenaJadhav, Det. of FRM, College of Community Science, UAS, Dharwad. The Director of Innovation and Product Development Centre, KLE, Hubballi Dr. Ravi Guttalin his key note address expressed that waste is a goldmine in India and provide business opportunities for youth. He expressed that the waste in India contains 65% of organic particles whereas in USA it is 45 % . However, USA is making a business of 14 billion dollars every year, which clearly shows that management of waste gives new opportunity for business and also contributes to maintaining clean environment. The Vice-Chancellor, Dr. M.B. Chetti, in his presidential remarks expressed that Agri graduates and other youths should come forward to start enterprise on converting waste into fuel, energy and nutrients that benefits the society by reducing health and environment hazards. Dr. Indira Prakash, Consultant (ES), ICAR, NAHEP and Dr. S.Kamaraj, former Professor of Tamil Nadu Agriculture University and Director International Institute of Renewable Energy, Coimbatore presented talk on innovative methods of recycling waste and government schemes available for youth to start small units with public private partnership respectively.
