Writing of quality research papers in social sciences is important for the growth of science opined Dr. Mahadev B. Chetti, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, UAS, Dharwad. He was speaking after inaugurating a virtual training programme on “Scientific Writing in Social Science” organized by the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad under the National Agricultural Higher Education Project- Institutional Development Programme (NAHEP-IDP) on 06th July 2020 from 9.30 AM-2.00 PM.He further elaborated the objectives and importance of the training programme. Renowned scientists of the country participated in the deliberations. Dr. Rajendra Prasad of the Indian Agricultural Statistical Institute, New Delhi spoke about how and why of data management, Dr. Yateendra Joshi, a freelance writer-editor of international repute made known the nuances of writing a research paper for acceptance in journals of high repute. Dr. Richa Sharma of Sharada University & Ram Saran Chaurasiya, Research assistant at String Bio Pvt. Limited dealt with the management of citations& references and also demonstrated the use of the software- End note, a software for organization of in citation management. Dr. P. Krishnan explained plagiarism and how to avoid the same with proper citation.
Nearly 350 participants across the country registered for the training programme. Dr. ShobhaNagnur, Professor & Head, Department of Extension and Communication Management, College of Community Science, UAS, Dharwad, the organizer of the training programme welcomed the participants as well as proposed the vote of thanks.
