Augmenting Quality and Relevance of Higher Agricultural Education through Enhanced Learning Outcome and Entrepreneurship Development 

  • Welcome and opening remarks by Dr. M. B. Chetti Hon’ble Vice Chancellor &Team leader, NAHEP-IDP

The brainstorming session on Agri-preneurship, Skilling and Startup Culture was conducted online on 23 June 2020 under NAHEP-IDP. Eminent personalities of national and international representatives in the field of agriculture including Vice-chancellors, Deputy Director Generals of ICAR, Professors and Agriculture Consultants had participated in the programme.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. Mahadev B. Chetti, UAS, Dharwad and Team Leader-ICAR-NAHEP-IDP, welcomed the members and briefed the agenda. The program was inaugurated by Dr. N. R. Rathore, Vice Chancellor, MPUAT, Udaipur.  He expressed that farm graduates should become job provider but not job seeker and COVID-19 has posed new challenges as well as opportunities. He has also expressed that the main objective of IDP is to promote entrepreneurship and start up among farm graduates. He has suggested to organize series of training programmes and exposure visits on entrepreneurship, start up, market network, etc for the students.

The eminent personalities including Dr. N. M. Krishna kumar, former DDG, (Horticulture), Dr. P. G. Chengappa former V. C UAS, Bangalore, Dr. Bangali Baboo, Former National Director (NATP), Dr, G. K. Vasant Kumar, Former additional secretary and many more participated and gave advice. They opined that skill development in agriculture is most essential that leads to entrepreneurship development and start up. All experts strongly recommended that skill development in various area of farming and allied area are most essential that promote students to think of entrepreneurship. Start up in agriculture has greater scope in providing quality inputs and services to farming community. They had also expressed that agriculture is suffering from quality inputs and timely services that are required to boost agriculture production and enhance export in agriculture entrepreneurship and start up by agriculture graduates.  Total 95 participants had participated in the webinar. The webinar was organized by Dr. K. V. Ashalatha and Dr. B. N. Aravindkumar. Dr. P. U. Krishnaraj, conveyed vote of thanks. All nodal officers, RAs, SRFs and YPs of IDP were also present in the webinar.
