Workshop on “Essentials of a Successful Start-up Culture among Students” was conducted on 12th and 13th March 2021. It was aimed at training the students on to expose and train the students on start up culture to become successful entrepreneurs. The training was inaugurated by Dr N.K. Hegde, Dean (Hort) College of Horticulture, Sirsi and urged the students about the importance of entrepreneurship. Two successful entrepreneurs in the field of Agroforestry and in the field of Ecotourism shared their experience of establishment of successful start up. Mr. Nitin A. Goudar, CEO – Dharvi Group – Hubli suggested that only 5 per cent of the demand is met today in the field of Agro-forestry. Mr. Suhas Hegde, CEO –TREC – Sirsi who runs a very successful startup on ecotourism known as TREC, told that the students of Forestry have ample exposure and opportunity to initiate a start-up in this sector.. Three resource persons, Mrs S. K. Yashasvini, Mr.Abhilash M. and Mr.Varun Hegde trained the students on various aspects. Six student’s teams made presentations on the Lean Canvas of their proposed stratup and the winners were awarded. About 55 undergrad students underwent this fun-filled the training. Nodal officers, Dr. H. Shivanna, Dean (Forestry) and Dr. R. Vasudeva organised the workshop.
