Under the World Bank funded NAHEP-IDP program, UAS Dharwad is conducting several events including workshops, hackathons, webinars, trainings, etc.The effectiveness of the program depends on the outreach of the content of the events to the common public, students and other stakeholders. In this context, workshop training was conducted to provide insights of content writing, skills involved writing for press and media was organized on 12thAugust, 2020 under NAHEP-IDP project. Eminent resource persons from print media like Mr.Sudheendra prassad, Mr.Basavaraj Hongal, Mr.Srinidhi R, Mr.B asavraj Hiremath and Mr.Raveesh Pawar were invited from the different press and media to deliver lectures and train the participants.
During the inaugural function of workshop, Mr. Gururaj Jamakhandi, Senior Journalist, Times of India expressed that writing for the media can be difficult, especially for the beginners. Practicing the writing skills will help to improve the quality of work.He also expressed that accurate, brief and crisp writing to the press note is the essential quality for writing for the media/ newspapers. He also explained in detail about the use of key points, emphasizing on the title, and highlighting the core idea of the programme in the press note that is useful to the reader.
During webinar Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. M. B. Chetti expressed that press and media play vital role in educating everyone and acts as bridge between technocrats and common people during his presidential address. The webinar was wrapped up by Director of Extension, Dr. Ramesh Babu, organizer, Dr. S. S. Dolli, the co-organizer, Dr. S. V. Halakatti. All nodal officers of IDP and staff were present.
