Augmenting Quality and Relevance of Higher Agricultural Education through Enhanced Learning Outcome and Entrepreneurship Development 

  • Welcome address by Dr. P.L. Patil, Director of Research, UAS, Dharwad

With an aim to bring awareness and to develop soft skills among students and faculty on aspects of electronic data repositories and management, policy and publication issues in agriculture including the use of digital data book, national webinar on “Importance of e-data book keeping under e-Governance” has been conducted on 13 November 2020 under the World Bank funded ICAR-NAHEP-Institutional Development Plan (IDP) project at UAS, Dharwad.

Dr. P.L. Patil, Director of Research, UAS, Dharwad welcomed the speakers and participants and explained the importance electronic data management. Principal Investigator, IDP, Dr. P. U. Krishnaraj, highlighted importance of e-Governance and several other activities undertaken as part of IDP for increasing the efficiency of the activities at University. Dr. A Dhandapani, Principal Scientist (Statistics/Computer Application), ICM Division, NAARM, Hyderabad provided details on the “Significance of e-data repositories and their management, policy and publication issues in relevance to Agriculture under e-Governance” and emphasized the importance of inclusion of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in agriculture. He explained the Krishi and Geo-portal of ICAR and experimental data repository under AICRP information system.

Dr. M Elangovan, Principal Scientist and Head, Gene Bank, IIMR, Hyderabad presented on “Digital Field Book–Paperless Data Collection”and provided details of Digital India by empowering the farmers by the use of multimedia and mobile Apps.

Dr. B. N. Motagi, Senior Scientist (GPB), AICRP on Groundnut introduced the resource persons and moderated the programme. Dr. M. C. Wali, Associate Director of Research (HQ) proposed the vote of thanks and urged students and staff to utilize the gained knowledge on use of the android app in their field / Lab data collection and publish quality papers in high impact journals.

A total of 194 participants participated in this webinar including undergraduate and post-graduate students, research scholars, scientific and technical staff of UAS, Dharwad, other SAUs and Institutes.
