Augmenting Quality and Relevance of Higher Agricultural Education through Enhanced Learning Outcome and Entrepreneurship Development 

  • Inaugurating Entrepreneurship Development Workshop by the College Dean, Dr. I.S. Katageri, at College of Forestry, Sirsi along with IDP team

The Entrepreneurship Development Workshop was organized for the benefit of students at College of Forestry, under the NAHEP funded IDP programme.  The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. I. S. Katageri, Dean (Forestry). He stressed the need for learning new skills, and adopts mindset to become successful entrepreneurs. The nodal officers of the IDP-College of Forestry, Sirsi, viz. Dr. R. Vasudeva, and Dr. H. Shivanna introduced the workshop theme and the resource persons to the students. Four eminent personalities viz. Mr. Mahesh Hegde, Ms. Swayamprabha Hegde, Mr. Ravikumar S. Angadi and Ms. Maitreyi Hegde Ainkai, who have rich industrial and teaching experience, were invited as resource persons.

This fun-filled workshop was well structured with 11 sessions distributed in three days. The participants were exposed to the basic ideas of entrepreneurship in apart from imparting some of the basic skills of communication and personality improvement.  Landscape of how the human brain works and its link to the NLP was also taught.

A total of 16 novel ideas were generated by the participants. One highlight of the training was that a group demonstrated that even Bajji making (a kind of a snack) can be viewed in the context of an enterprise. The students were engaged in conversations on various aspects of the workshop even during sumptuous lunch and tea sessions.

During the valedictory session, students enthusiastically shared their experience of the workshop and were highly appreciative of the sessions and learning. The training ended with a music recital by the Mrs. Swayamprabha Hegde and Mr. Joel Fernandez, a student of the College of Forestry, Sirsi as a guitarist.
